General Membership Meeting

President Niland called meeting to order
at 12:50 p.m.
PROGRAM
The program for today was a presentation from Jim Penn regarding
the recent AACE Conference he attended in Orlando, Florida.
Jim stated there were approximately 200 code enforcement
attendees. Topics included were, Boarded Buildings, Predatory
Lenders. Jim also said AACE is promoting it being a felony
to assault a Code Enforcement Officer since recent attack
on some officers.
REVIEW OF
MINUTES
Motion by member Penn, seconded by member Wiggle to approve
the minutes of September 13, 2005 meeting as presented.
The motion Carried/Unanimous.
TREASURER’S
REPORT
Treasurer Martin reported we have 10,416.73 in our checking
account and $19,494.94 in our savings account. A motion
was made by member Penn and supported by member Uglow to
approve the Treasurer’s Report. The motion Carried/Unanimous.
OLD BUSINESS
The Fall Conference will be held October 11, 2005 in Novi
was a success. President Niland requested any feedback from
the membership. There is no cost for the conference itself
and we were still able to make $213.00 from it.
President Niland announced ICC accepted
us as a member. She also said they have some incentive programs
so that we can earn free education classes.
The Mid-Michigan Chapter is having their
third meeting tomorrow. Jim McLean is currently conducting
the meetings.
NEW BUSINESS
President Niland announced the board has selected three
charities that we may pick from to sponsor for the next
year: Ronald McDonald House, Rainbow Connection, and American
Cancer Society. A vote of the membership was taken and the
American Cancer Society received the most votes. We will
sponsor this charity from proceeds from the 50/50 drawings.
President Niland announced the December
Meeting & Luncheon will be free to all members. Guests
will be charged $25.00. A sheet was provided at the meeting
to sign up. If you did not attend the meeting, please call
in your reservation as soon as possible. We will still have
our white elephant exchange. Please find something you have
at home that may be a funny gift to give. Make sure you
bring it wrapped.
President Niland announced the MACEO
Web Site should be up and running by December 01, 2005.
The new address will be MACEO.org
January’s meeting will be on vacant
and foreclosed properties. February’s meeting will
be a follow up with a round table discussion on vacant structures
and how each community handles them.
President Niland announced we have two
new members. One from Royal Oak and one from Auburn Hills.
50/50 Drawing: Members Altman &
Penn of Plymouth were winners of the 50/50 drawing.
Lunch Drawing: Member Altman of Plymouth
won the lunch drawing.
President Niland accepted a motion to
adjourn the meeting at 1:55 p.m.
